Day 13 – Eyes Fixed on The Horizon

Romans 8:30

And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

Faith is more than a fleeting feeling or wishful thinking; it is a deep trust in God’s promises and a confidence in His plan for our lives. When our faith is strong, it gives us vision for the future, certainty in God’s promises, and direction for every step we take. Without faith, we can easily stumble through life, reacting to circumstances instead of walking with purpose.

In Romans 8:29-30, Paul lays out a profound assurance for every believer. He teaches that God foreknew those who would respond to His invitation of salvation through Jesus. It are these people that He has predestined. This does not mean he removes choice. Rather, it means for those who have responded to the invitation of Salvation through Jesus, God guarantees their destiny.

It is like if you were to invite everyone in your contact list to dinner at your favourite restaurant next Friday at 7pm and you are inviting anyone who responds to join you. It is their choice to respond and if they do their destination is set; your favourite restaurant, next Friday at 7pm. So it is with God, with one major difference – He knows who will respond with a yes before He sent the message.

God, in His foreknowledge, already knew who would respond to His invitation of salvation in Jesus. Those He foreknew would respond, He also called—inviting them to Himself through Jesus. Those He called, He justified—giving them right standing before Him through the work of Jesus. And those He justified, He glorified—promising an eternity with Him in His presence.

This does not mean we sit back simply waiting to get to heaven. No, we are called to be His ambassadors on earth, the representatives of His love to all people. Though the journey may be filled with uncertainty and the path may not always be clear, we can be certain that our destination is set. Our destiny is set in Christ, and we can walk each step of faith with confidence, knowing God is guiding us towards Christlikeness and ultimate glory with Him.

Your faith isn’t limited to the present moment—it’s anchored in a guaranteed eternal future. When challenges come, let the certainty of your promised destiny bring peace and direction to your steps.

To help this confidence we have in our future really sink in today, make a list of the things in your mind that are causing the most anxiety, worry or challenges that just seem to have no clear solution. These are things to commit to God in consistent prayer, but today imagine eternity with God and all that will be like and then read over you list again this eternal perspective.

When we do this, it repositions us to see the challenges of the present as temporary in light of eternity with our Father and fills us with a faith filled certainty that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him.
